About Kumo Beds

Where are Kumo Beds made?

Every Kumo bed is handcrafted in our workshop in Yorkshire, UK. We build to order rather than holding finished stock, so the bed is made for you after you order.

How long has Kumo Beds been in business?

We have been supplying beds since 2013. Before selling directly through kumobeds.co.uk, our beds were supplied to UK retailers and to the hospitality industry, which is where our build standards come from.

Are Kumo Beds UKFR compliant?

Yes. All Kumo beds are upholstered using UKFR (UK Fire Regulation) compliant fabrics and materials. UKFR is the legal fire safety standard for upholstered furniture sold in the UK.

Do you have a physical showroom?

Kumo Beds is online only. We do not currently have a showroom. To see fabric and colour in person before ordering, you can request free fabric samples by post.

Choosing the right bed

What styles of bed do you sell?

We sell upholstered bed frames, divan beds, TV beds with a lift-up mechanism, kids beds including character designs, mattresses and matching sofa sets. Browse the full range in our shop.

What UK bed sizes do you offer?

Most beds are available in the standard UK sizes: 2FT6 Small Single, 3FT Single, 4FT Small Double, 4FT6 Double, 5FT King Size and 6FT Super King. Available sizes are listed on each product page.

Can I order free fabric samples?

Yes. Free fabric samples are available so you can check the colour and texture in your own light before ordering. Request samples here.

Do your beds come with a mattress?

No. Bed frames, divan beds and TV beds are sold separately from mattresses. Mattresses are listed in our mattress collection. This lets you pick the firmness and price that suits you.

What is the difference between a bed frame and a divan bed?

A bed frame has a headboard and a slatted base that the mattress sits on. A divan bed has a solid upholstered base that the mattress sits on, often with optional storage drawers, and a separate headboard. Divans tend to be lower to the ground; bed frames are more visible as a piece of furniture.

What is a TV bed?

A TV bed is a divan bed with a built-in lift mechanism in the footboard that raises a TV from inside the bed. The TV is hidden when not in use, and rises smoothly for viewing. TVs are not included; size compatibility is listed on each TV bed product page.

03

Made-to-order and production

What does "made to order" mean?

Each Kumo bed is built after you place your order, rather than being picked off a shelf. That means you choose the size, fabric and finish you want, and the bed is then cut, built and upholstered to that specification in our Yorkshire workshop.

Why is it built to order instead of held in stock?

Made-to-order lets us offer many fabric and finish combinations without storing finished beds we have not sold. It also means the bed leaves the workshop newly upholstered rather than sitting in a warehouse. The trade-off is the production time built into the delivery estimate below.

04

Delivery

How long does delivery take?

Typical delivery is 5-10 working days from the date the order is placed. This includes production time, because each bed is built to order. Delivery times are estimates and may vary depending on location, courier delays or unforeseen circumstances.

Who delivers the bed?

Orders are delivered by a trusted third-party courier. Once your order has shipped, you may receive shipping confirmation or tracking details when available.

Where in the UK do you deliver?

If you are not sure whether your address is in our standard delivery area (for example offshore islands or remote postcodes), please contact us before ordering and we will confirm.

Will the courier bring the bed into my room?

Delivery is to your address, not necessarily to a specific room inside the property. If you need help carrying the bed indoors or upstairs, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm what is available for your delivery.

05

Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

You can pay with all major credit and debit cards at checkout. Cash on delivery is also available as a payment option.

Can I pay cash on delivery?

Yes. Cash on delivery is available at checkout for customers who prefer it. Select the cash on delivery option when placing your order.

06

Cancellation, returns and refunds

Can I cancel my order?

Yes. If you cancel before production starts, you receive a full refund. If you cancel after production has started, a 35% production and handling fee applies, because the bed has already been cut, built and upholstered to your spec. Contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel.

Can I return a bed I have changed my mind about?

Unused items in original condition and original packaging can be returned within 14 days of delivery, with proof of purchase. Items that are not in resaleable condition cannot be returned.

What if my bed arrives damaged, defective or incorrect?

Please contact us straight away. We may ask for photos or additional information to review the issue, and we will work with you to resolve it. Damaged or incorrect items are not covered by the access-fit rule below.

When will I receive my refund?

Approved refunds are processed back to the original payment method within a reasonable number of working days. Shipping costs are generally non-refundable unless the item is faulty or incorrect.

07

Access and fit

What if the bed does not fit through my door or up my stairs?

Access is the buyer's responsibility to check before ordering. If a bed is delivered in good condition and there is no fault with it, but it cannot be taken into the intended room because of doorway, hallway or staircase access, we cannot offer a refund or return.

Measure doorways, staircases, hallway turns and the room itself before you order. If you are unsure, send us your measurements and we will help you check.

How do I check access before I order?

Three measurements matter: the narrowest point of every doorway between the front door and the bedroom, the width of any staircase turn, and the floor area of the room itself. Each Kumo product page lists the assembled bed dimensions. If you would like a second opinion, message us with your measurements before ordering.

08

Warranty and care

What is the warranty on a Kumo bed?

Kumo Beds come with a 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects. If you believe your bed has a defect covered by the warranty, contact us with photos and a description of the issue.

How do I care for my bed?

Care instructions for fabric and frame are included with your bed on delivery. As a general rule, keep upholstered beds out of direct sunlight, vacuum the fabric gently, and avoid harsh cleaning chemicals. Avoid sitting heavily on the edge of the bed frame.
