About Kumo Beds
Handcrafted beds made in Yorkshire since 2013
Kumo Beds is a Yorkshire bed manufacturer. We design and build bed frames, divan beds, TV beds, kids beds and upholstered sofa sets from our workshop in the UK, and we have been supplying beds since 2013. This page explains who we are, how we build, and what to expect before you order.
What Kumo Beds makes
We make upholstered bed frames, divan beds with optional storage, TV beds with a lift-up viewing mechanism, kids beds, mattresses and matching sofa sets. Each piece is built to order in a UK workshop, which means you choose the size, fabric and finish, and the bed is then handcrafted for you.
How our beds are built
Every bed is handcrafted by our team in Yorkshire. We import the core components used in production rather than buying finished beds from other manufacturers. That keeps the build, the upholstery and the final inspection inside our own workshop, so we can hold each bed to the same standard before it leaves us.
The trade-off of made-to-order production is that beds are not on a shelf ready to dispatch. We use that time to build the bed properly. Typical delivery is 5 to 10 working days from order, and we explain exactly what made-to-order means below.
UKFR compliant fabrics and materials
All Kumo beds are upholstered using UKFR (UK Fire Regulation) compliant fabrics and materials. UKFR is the legal standard for upholstered furniture sold in the UK. Compliance is not optional and not a marketing extra. It is the baseline we work to, because it is the baseline a UK home should expect.
Years of supplying retailers and hospitality
Before selling directly through kumobeds.co.uk, our beds were supplied to UK retailers and to the hospitality industry. Retail buyers expect consistent build quality across batches. Hospitality buyers expect beds that hold up to repeated daily use over years, not weeks. Both audiences gave us the manufacturing habits we still use on every bed sold direct to a home.
Why that matters when you buy a Kumo bed
A bed is a long purchase, not a quick one. When the same workshop has supplied trade buyers for more than a decade, three things follow that are useful to a home shopper:
- Consistency. The bed you receive matches the bed in the listing, not a softer or cheaper version.
- Durability. Hospitality-grade build standards do not disappear when the bed is sold to a home.
- Accountability. One workshop made it, so one team is responsible if anything is not right.
Made-to-order, in plain English
Because each Kumo bed is built after you order it, a few practical details matter more than they would for a stocked product. We put them here, not buried in a policy page, so there are no surprises.
- Typical delivery: 5 to 10 working days from order, by a trusted third-party courier.
- Cancellation before production starts: full refund.
- Cancellation after production has started: a 35% production and handling fee applies, because the bed has already been cut, built and upholstered to your spec.
- Returns: unused items in original condition and original packaging can be returned within 14 days of delivery.
- Damaged or incorrect on arrival: contact us straight away and we will sort it.
- Access and fit: please measure doorways, staircases and the room before you order. If a bed arrives in good condition but cannot fit into the intended room, we cannot offer a refund or return, because access is the buyer's responsibility.
Full details are in our Shipping Policy and Returns & Refunds Policy.
